Exercise Referral Services

G.P. Exercise Referral Program

I am qualified to provide safe exercise to people who have been referred by a Healthcare professional to take exercise.

Some time ago, people suffering with conditions such as Asthma, Diabetes (Type 1 or 2), Hypertension (High Blood Pressure), High Cholesterol, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Back Pain, Stress, Anxiety & Depression were told by medical professionals to pick up a prescription for drugs and then go home and rest. Those days are long gone and it is now the case that GP’s are recommending their patients with one or more of these conditions to get out there and start exercising. It is accepted by medical professionals that exercise not only improves our heart, lung and mental health, it also helps people manage a plethora of medical conditions who at one time were deemed unable to exercise. It has been proven that people who follow safe exercise that has been carefully designed with the condition in mind, are more able to carry out day to day activities, live independently for longer, control or even aleviate pain and enjoy a better quality of life.

However, many of the ‘Exercise on Referral’ Programmes the NHS are able to offer, consist of signposting patients to public leisure centres. For many individuals attending a large impersonal public gym can be intimidating or inaccessible and they do not finish the referral.

I am able to bridge that gap, by working with people in the privacy of their own home not only breaks down this barrier but also allows them to build a level of fitness at a pace which is more suited to their needs rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach. I provide constant support and motivation throughout the sessions by building a rapport and providing continuity with my clients from the outset. I am a great believer in making physical activity not only effective and safe but enjoyable, non-threatening and acheivable by adapting exercise to the needs of the individual and which fits in with your daily routine, other commitments and the level of your condition.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for an informal, no obligation chat to discuss what you’d like to acheive. I’d love to help.
